Center Stage Artist - Daniel Persson

http://www.jango.com/music/daniel+persson

Swedish born singer songwriter Daniel Persson, who rose to prominence with a blend of raspy vocals and homespun raw-edge indie folk punk, recorded his first EP Beautiful Mess in 2004 and quickly made a name for himself on the Los Angeles underground scene.

In 2006 Daniel got together with various local LA musicians and recorded his first full length DIY album Broken bones, which was released the same year.

In 2009 Daniel moved  back to his birth town Malmö/Sweden where he teamed up with producer Matti Engdahl and his new backing band "the Weaklings" to record the highly acclaimed Bedlam days.which was released 2011.

Over the years several of Daniels songs have found a new life finding their ways into several independent movies, a platform which fits his somewhat cinematic lyrics and songs well. Most recently "Poison in the well" from his debut album "Broken bones" was picked up by Academy award nominee Mark Kitchell’s "A fierce green fire"

Describe your sound in one ramble-on sentence
Drunken sailor sing-alongs for the whole family to enjoy.

What inspires you to make music?
It all varies really.Boredom can be quite inspiring. The need to break
out of it and make something happen. The songwriting aspect of it is
what I find most exciting though.I’m always on the lookout for that
next tune wherever it may come from.Once I find it I play it ‘til I
puke and then put it in the vault. Some songs leave the vault and some
don’t.

What aspect of making music excites you the most right now?
Gonna hit the studio this fall and I’m looking forward to pull some
songs out of the vault and watch them grow with all the bells and
whistles

What aspect of making music gets you the most discouraged?
Trying to get four people in the same room at the same time

What's one of your all-time favorite recordings?
Syd Barrett- The madcap laughs Is one of them. interesting songs for sure.

Name three people who have influenced your music, and tell us why-
Living or dead.

Theres so many to pick from, I’ll just pull something out of the hat:

Elvis was my first musical hero
John Lennon got me into songwriting
Tom Waits helped me expand my horizon

Do you have any recent or upcoming projects you'd like to share with
us? Tell us about it.

There’s a new album in the works which will hopefully see the light of
day early 2015

What do you like the most about Radio Airplay?
Being a DIY artist and a bad self promoter is a bad combination.

Center Stage Artist - Cormac O Caoimh

http://www.jango.com/music/Cormac O Caoimh

What do…A honeyed whiskey drink, a fine cognac on a cold winter’s eve,
a warm woolly jumper in muted earthy colours, a rich mahogany warm and beautiful, and a water colour painting all have in common?

They have all been used in reviews to describe Cormac O Caoimh’s new album.

Cormac O Caoimh has just released his third solo CD “The Moon Loses Its Memory”. It has already been featured and received excellent reviews in TheSunday Times,The Daily Star, Hot Press, The Ticket and many many more. He has done live sessions and interviews on RTE Radio 1, NEwstalk, KCLR to name but a few and 12 of the 14 songs of the album have already received airplay on national and local stations. A full gig of his - live from HMV(who are also stocking the cd in their stores) went out live on the RTE website. And on the success of this new CD he has received endorsement deals with Godin Guitars, Schertler acoustic amps and Logjam stompers.

Describe your sound in one ramble-on sentence
"like little sculptures... considered, shaped and honed into things of beauty that find their way to your soul."- Fiachna Ó Braonáin (Hothouse Flowers)

What inspires you to make music?
Trying to create something new. Create a song that describes a feeling that there are no words for. To tell a story that is not normally told in a song. To be musicially and emotionally interesting.

What aspect of making music excites you the most right now?
The songs I am in the middle of writing always excite me the most

What aspect of making music gets you the most discouraged?
The music admin side of things can be discouraging. Getting the music heard can be hard. But Radio Airplay is one avenue that makes that easier.

What's one of your all-time favorite recordings?
Nick Drake - Five Leaves Left

Name three people who have influenced your music, and tell us why- Living or dead.
Nick Drake, Elliott Smith and Grant McClennan.

Nick Drake just because. Musically, vocally, lyricically...he had everything.

Elliott Smith and Grant McClennan because they are so melodic and they create exceptionally interesting pop music. Pop music at the moment is associated with terrible bubble gum pop music. But pop music can be clever and interesting...but it can still be catchy. They would probably be called indie now or indie pop. But it still is pop. And fantastic pop at that.

Do you have any recent or upcoming projects you'd like to share with us? Tell us about it.
I have just released his third solo cd “The Moon Loses Its Memory”. It has already been featured and received excellent reviews in The Sunday Times, The Daily Star, Hot Press, The Ticket and many many more. I have done live sessions and interviews on RTE Radio 1, NEwstalk, KCLR to name but a few and 12 of the 14 songs of the cd have already received airplay on national and local stations. The current single (for the past month) is no 3 on Irelands biggest stations' airplay charts - the only self- released song in the top ten.

What do you like the most about Radio Airplay?
It is the easiest and most efficient way of getting music heard.

Interesting story about you, or anything extra you'd like to add.
I have recently received endorsement deals with Godin Guitars, Schertler acoustic amps and logjam stompers. A huge achievement and honour for an independent act.

Get a Booking Agent

http://diymusician.cdbaby.com/2014/09/get-booking-agent
Booking agents are the middlemen between the artist and the venue owners or promoters, and they can be crucial in getting your band that big gig. This great article posted by our friends at CD BABY on the DIY Musician blog talks about how you can get the attention of a booking agent and how the relationship works once you've hired one.
