Center Stage Artist - Daniel Persson

http://www.jango.com/music/daniel+persson

Swedish born singer songwriter Daniel Persson, who rose to prominence with a blend of raspy vocals and homespun raw-edge indie folk punk, recorded his first EP Beautiful Mess in 2004 and quickly made a name for himself on the Los Angeles underground scene.

In 2006 Daniel got together with various local LA musicians and recorded his first full length DIY album Broken bones, which was released the same year.

In 2009 Daniel moved  back to his birth town Malmö/Sweden where he teamed up with producer Matti Engdahl and his new backing band "the Weaklings" to record the highly acclaimed Bedlam days.which was released 2011.

Over the years several of Daniels songs have found a new life finding their ways into several independent movies, a platform which fits his somewhat cinematic lyrics and songs well. Most recently "Poison in the well" from his debut album "Broken bones" was picked up by Academy award nominee Mark Kitchell’s "A fierce green fire"

Describe your sound in one ramble-on sentence
Drunken sailor sing-alongs for the whole family to enjoy.

What inspires you to make music?
It all varies really.Boredom can be quite inspiring. The need to break
out of it and make something happen. The songwriting aspect of it is
what I find most exciting though.I’m always on the lookout for that
next tune wherever it may come from.Once I find it I play it ‘til I
puke and then put it in the vault. Some songs leave the vault and some
don’t.

What aspect of making music excites you the most right now?
Gonna hit the studio this fall and I’m looking forward to pull some
songs out of the vault and watch them grow with all the bells and
whistles

What aspect of making music gets you the most discouraged?
Trying to get four people in the same room at the same time

What's one of your all-time favorite recordings?
Syd Barrett- The madcap laughs Is one of them. interesting songs for sure.

Name three people who have influenced your music, and tell us why-
Living or dead.

Theres so many to pick from, I’ll just pull something out of the hat:

Elvis was my first musical hero
John Lennon got me into songwriting
Tom Waits helped me expand my horizon

Do you have any recent or upcoming projects you'd like to share with
us? Tell us about it.

There’s a new album in the works which will hopefully see the light of
day early 2015

What do you like the most about Radio Airplay?
Being a DIY artist and a bad self promoter is a bad combination.
Radio airplay helps me find new listeners and fans around the globe
everyday in an effortless way
